Central Registration Department (CRD)

This department is looked after by the Deputy Medical Superintendent. He is assisted by the Senior Medical Record Officer of the Central Registration Departments. This Department is mainly concerned with the registry system of patients visiting the Nehru Hospital, PGI, Chandigarh. Registration is done round-the-clock through the emergency registration counter. The registration of children below the age of 12 years is carried out at the Advanced Pediatric Centre (APC). Central Records department provides 'No Dues Certificates' to the patients day and night. The archives of inpatient record in the Medical Record Library has nearly 7.5 lac files. These files are retrieved as and when required specially for LIC forms/Insurance forms, medico-legal records, court evidence, clinico pathological conference, preparation of scientific papers and patient follow-up. During the last year 19,413 files were retrieved under the various headings.
